Can't Stop the Signal
Tho you can not post the signal for a long, long while. But I have a really good reason: I just felt kinda "meh" about blogging. what?
But today I thought I'd break radio silence just to scream at the top of my keyboard about a few things.
First - Saw Serenity last weekend. So, so good. This movie deserves to do better than it is doing at the box office. If you like sci-fi it is a must to see this. If you like movies that aren't like anything else out at the theaters, you should see this. Also fans of sci-fi or westerns or just brilliant tv should rent the Firefly series on DVD (where the movie came from). It will make you a fan. Or it won't. I guarantee one or the other. But go see the movie. I mean if for nothing else than it's history in the making. A cancelled tv show comes back from the grave as a feature film??? That never happens! Oh wait, does Twin Peaks count?
Second - Halo, the best video game of all time, is getting made into a movie (thanks to the same folks at Universal who made Serenity). I had reasonable hopes for it because Bungie, the company behind the game, seems really involved in the project. Today my hopes went through the roof as I read that they have brought on THE Peter Jackson as exec producer!!! Now I don't think this is a mere name on the poster type move. He is a huge fan of the game and will be very hands on I'm sure. With him comes Weta Workshop and Weta Digital for the creature effects, weapons, armor, buildings, cgi, you name it. I mean the people who did Lord of the Rings and the upcoming The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, are creating the Halo universe! If you were half the geek I am you'd realize: THIS IS HUGE!
Last - Hockey is back! Tonight was opening day for the league. I watched the Stars game on tv. They were down 4 - 0 at the end of the first period. In the old days that pretty much would have meant the end of the game. But I have to admit with all the new rules it is a much more frenzied game. Lots of action. And of course the ability for a team like the Stars to come back and win 5-4! It was fantastic. I was screaming. Anyway, got tickets to Saturdays game. Can't wait.
