Wee Bit Tired
So I had found out that some friends of mine had seen and LOVED Serenity. Funny thing was I was planning to tell them to go see it the next time I saw them because I thought they would like it. So when I was hanging out with them I was delighted to here them beat me to it and recommend it to me. So then I began to tell them that yes, while the movie was great they must must see the tv show Firefly.
So this was last weekend for me:
Saturday night, Drew and Shawn (the afforementioned friends) came over to my place after Drew and I got back from the Stars game in Dallas (they won. Go Stars!). We tried to get a hold of everyone we knew in our little sci-fi friendly group but it ended up just being us three after many failed phone call and swinging by people's houses attempts. So we started the two hour pilot of Firefly, the aptly named "Serenity" parts 1 & 2, around 1:00 am. In my experience so far, that episode is all it takes to get hooked. When we finished the "Our Mrs. Reynolds" episode it was 8 am Sunday morning and were basically at the half way point. So we took a little nap.
I got up around 1 pm. We had come up with a plan while having out little marathon the night before and so I sprung into action. I found a 3:55 showtime of Serenity (hard to do with it dropped down to some 800 odd theaters now). We went to Drew's house and took his mom to go see it with us since she had not yet. She also loved it and left talking about all the people she wanted to take to see it. I enjoyed it more the second time.
After the movie, we parted ways. I had dinner with Nate and Nikki and then went back to my place around ten. I called Drew.
Shawn and Drew got to my place around 11. We put a frozen pizza in the oven and started up the next episode "Jaynestown". With the "Hero of Canton" song stuck in our heads all night we finished all the way through to "Objects in Space" the final ep, then watched all the special features. We again got done around 8 am. They left and I passed out.
Talked to Drew this afternoon. He bought the DVD online when he got home this morning. We're planning our next marathon for those that didn't make it. It was an awesome time. Pretty hardcore but awesome none the less. I really want to go as Mal or Jayne for Halloween.
When I get home from work tonight I'm definitely going to have to watch the easter egg on disc four that I just found out about - "Adam Baldwin sings Hero of Canton - a tribute to the tribute".
